My niece — the one who spent the night last weekend — just turned 5 and her birthday party is today. Most kids we know get a gift from Katie and/or Tristan for their birthday but there are a few — nieces/nephews and fake nieces/nephews — who also get a gift from Papa and me. We usually have the kids give them a toy and we give them clothes. Anyway, this year my niece will be starting kindergarten and I figured she could use some school clothes.
The red print is from Superbuzzy — I just typed superbuxxy which I think is something else entirely — but they’re unfortunately out of it right now. My sister loves anything Japanese cutesy so I knew this fabric would be right up her alley, and with the going back to school I thought all the letters would be appropriate. I just hope my niece doesn’t use it to cheat on spelling tests since elephant is spelled olephant in the print. The denim has a shimmery thread in it — seems tacky, yes, but little girls love it — and I bought 5 yards for something like $1 a yard off the clearance rack at JoAnn’s. The stripe was a last minute addition. I had trouble figuring out what fabric to use as a contrast and finally decided on this stripe which alone looks pretty Christmas-y but I hope just looks cute in the outfits.

adorable outfits and model.
it is nice to see you sharing your work on the ottobre group.
teri
holy moley, you are a sewing machine. (oh, ha ha ha!)
I love Burda patterns! Every one I’ve ever made has been a good one. Quite unlike other patterns from other, ahem, companies.
You are incredible! I have yet to sew clothing for my kids. (I did do a dress for part of a Halloween costume last year though.) Your outfits are amazing!
Those are incredible! What a lucky little girl.
Lovely. What a lucky little girl this is. And I’m sure her mom will be very grateful.
How cute! Little girls are so much fun to sew for…I miss that. My daughter is 25 and I made many things for her. She’s getting married in October, so maybe in a few years I’ll have grandkids to sew for. My youngest niece just turned 11 and the last thing I made for her was a leopard print fleece bathrobe (at her request!)
These outfits are super cute! I look forward to the day when sewing up a thing or two will be second nature. In the meantime I will droll over others’ lovely things.
It all coordinates so well -you have the start of a collection
So, did Katrina hate to give it all up?
Lucky little niece
great clothes! and yet another beautiful doll’s bed… you are both very talented and your little niece is a lucky little girl!
What an adorable model. And the clothes are great, I especially love the stripey top but you didn’t list a pattern for that.
Oh, this is such a nice collection. I bet your niece was delighted! And look at Katrina–she looks like she had fun–she is adorable!
where did you get the Ottebre skirt pattern from? I LOVE it and have a little one I’d love to make it for… Great site btw.
